There are a lot of different things happening on this blog. I am not sorry whatsoever.
Start with these nice collections!
- Essays: long-form articles where I try to get to the bottom of an idea.
- Thoughts: short(er)-form thought explorations; reviews; frustrated ramblings.
- Notes: explainers; notes on various things I’ve learned; reflections.
- Advice: for those of you who for whatever reason think I’m qualified to give advice.
You can also browse the various tags and categories to find other stuff you might be interested in.
But wait, what’s the best stuff on this blog?
Of course this is subjective, but here are a few of what I think are the best posts:
- I Am Slowly Discovering That I Have No Idea How to Read
- Getting to the End of the Thought; or, Why Write in the Age of AI?
- The Absolute Horror That Is Dressing For Work; or, How to Navigate Dress Codes
- Why Does Theory Matter in Computer Science? (Part 1)
- The Nonfiction Spectrum
- My Complicated Relationship with the Visual Arts
- (Computer-)Scientific Abstracts, As Analyzed by a Confused Undergrad
I also wrote a blog post where I talked about my favourite things I wrote in 2024, but not all of them were published on this blog. You can find that post here.
I also think everything on the Resources and Projects page is cool and worth looking at, but I guess a lot of those things aren’t really blog posts.
What else can I find on this blog?
There are currently two main series running on this blog:
- Some Interesting Things I’ve Read (or Watched) Lately, where I talk about interesting books, games, videos, etc. that I thought were worth my time. These aren’t quite reviews – sometimes I end up rambling about tangentially related thoughts instead – but they’re close.
- Research Reflections, where I talk about things I’ve learned about academic research (actually, it’s mostly about my ongoing struggles to decipher academic papers). A lot of these are about things I learned the hard way (or wish I was told earlier). Disclaimer: I am an undergraduate student, not a professional researcher.
There is also a bunch of other random nonsense. For example, I recently reposted text from an old high school project, simply because I felt like it.
