Hi, my name is Rebecca and I exist.
No really, this is how I like to introduce myself. Nothing fancy, just the reality of my existence. Too many descriptors would mean I’d have to update this bio too frequently, and updating websites is one of my least favourite activities. I do like to read. I guess that’s an invariant fun fact.
This blog exists because I have thoughts, and sometimes, I feel like putting those thoughts on the internet. I’ve been blogging on and off since before I was a teenager, but most of the early stuff is, thankfully, no longer accessible online. It wasn’t bad, per se, it’s just that maybe 12-year-old me didn’t have that much that was interesting to say.
I hope the quality of my thoughts has improved since then, but if not… hey, no one is making you read this. Go do something fun, like doomscrolling on LinkedIn. Or reading AI generated content on Twitter. (I guess we call it “X” now. Oops.)
I’m currently an undergraduate computer science student at Carleton University. Sometimes I like to forget about that, because I don’t fit the cultural stereotype for CS students, for whatever reason (please, don’t get me started on how I feel about undergrad CS major culture). I do happen to actually like computer science, so it is what it is, I guess. I’m interested in cybersecurity, privacy, algorithms, and data ethics. I’m also double minoring in math and English. Guess which one of those was an accident.
I also have an alternate life as an artist, which you can find out more about here.
If you came here from my personal website, I’m sorry if this wasn’t what you expected. I’m chaotic. I do a lot of things. Do not expect consistency in the topics or posting schedule around here, because you won’t get it.
If you really want to contact me, please use the form on my personal website.
